How did Jake Brown & Blueline happen?
(Taken from a recent blog on http://www.myspace.com/jakebrownandblueline)
"As I'm sure none of you knew...a little group of us southern Indiana gentlemen formed a little band. For a while it consisted of whoever I called on Saturday night to play with me at the Jefferson County fairgrounds in Madison...or the Henryville community center. My little piddlings each Saturday night were typically referred to as the Walking Tacos. Since then, any attention we received, good or bad, was addressed to the Walking Tacos. Well, the band has been narrowed to a definite foursome. Due to our small bit of recognition as the Walking Tacos, I thought the name could, and possibly should, stick with us. However, due to some confusion regarding the name's meaning (it had none), the band name has changed. Noah Wullenweber, Donnie Collings, David Wullenweber, and myself are now Jake Brown & Blueline. A name I thought was perhaps slightly more common, and less eyebrow raising."

Jake Brown - In the band, Jake plays the guitar and sings lead vocals as well as harmony vocals. He has played mandolin and guitar, touring the United States and Canada, with Rebel recording artist Tony Holt & the Wildwood Valley Boys. Jake got his start playing with the southern Indiana band, James White & Deer Creek. In the southern Indiana area, Jake fills in on guitar, mandolin, and banjo with many of the area bands. Jake does much of the emcee work for Blueline and enjoys keeping everyone entertained on and off the stage. Jake plays a 2002 Martin DM guitar and a 1983 Taggart F-5 mandolin.

Noah Wullenweber - Noah plays the banjo and sings some lead and much of the harmony vocals for the band. Noah is 17 years old and keeps the band's sound rolling right along with his driving banjo style. Noah plays a variety of contemporary/traditional banjo styles comparable to Earl Scruggs, Jim Mills, Ronnie Stewart, J.D. Crowe, Sammy Shelor, and Terry Baucom. Noah has played and continues to play with Barnstormin' Bluegrass, his family's traditional bluegrass/gospel band. Noah plays a banjo he and his dad built in their HomeGrown Instrument shop.

David Wullenweber - David plays the bass for Blueline. David's super solid bass playing drops just perfectly into the band's driving rhythm section. His whole family is musical. In fact, the traditional bluegrass/gospel band, Barnstormin' Bluegrass, consists of David, his wife, his son (Noah), and his two daughters. The band really appreciates what David brings to Blueline. With his bass playing, the band has the bottom end push that perfectly complements our driving sound. David plays a mean 1963, blonde Kay upright bass.

Donnie Collings - Donnie is a southern Indiana bluegrass veteran. For Blueline, Donnie plays the mandolin and sings some lead and harmony vocals. He has been playing mandolin, fiddle, and guitar in the southern Indiana area for years now, playing with many local and regional acts. Donnie has also picked some mandolin with national acts such as the Bluegrass Strangers and the Wildwood Valley Boys. Donnie picks an old Carlson Flatiron mandolin as well as a Hopkins mandolin. Donnie also plays a fiddle built for him by John Silakowski.
